French E-Invoicing Reform: The Tax Authority Spoke. Here's What You Need to Know.
On June 22nd, Iopole co-hosted a webinar with two experts from the Direction Générale des Finances Publiques (DGFiP), France's tax authority. Over 500 registrants. One hour of dense, official content on a reform that affects every French business.
If you missed it, or want to revisit specific points, the replay is available.
What Was Covered
David and Grégory from the DGFiP walked through the essentials: key dates, obligations by company size, the difference between e-invoicing and e-reporting, how certified platforms work in practice, specific use cases (restaurants, toll roads, subcontracting, associations, property companies...) and the right approach to choosing your platform.
A few points that generated the most questions:
September 2026 applies to everyone. Including micro-businesses exempt from VAT. The obligation to receive e-invoices applies to all VAT-registered businesses from September 1st, 2026. The obligation to emit e-invoices will apply to SMEs and micro-businesses from September 1st, 2027.
An e-invoice is not a PDF sent by email. It is a structured file, machine-readable, transmitted from platform to platform. Three formats are accepted: UBL, CII and Factur-X.
Your current invoicing software is probably already covered. If your software provider is a Compatible Solution or connects through a certified platform like Iopole, the reform will be largely transparent for you. No need to change tools.
