Status of electronic invoicing adoption in France: figures and trends for 2026
February 2026 - The state of electronic invoicing adoption in France: figures, challenges, and prospects
The French electronic invoicing reform, which aims to generalize e-invoicing for all companies and public entities, is accelerating rapidly. With less than one year to go before September 1, 2026, understanding adoption levels and the available infrastructure is crucial for companies, public administrations, and software vendors.
1. Approved platforms: towards full market coverage
Out of the 133 platforms that have submitted a validated administrative application:
- 106 platforms have received definitive registration
- 27 platforms are still in the testing phase
- 9 additional applications are currently under review
Approved platforms are the central link for securing B2B, B2G, and B2C flows, ensuring compliance with French and European standards (EN16931 and EXTENDED-CTC-FR profile).
2. The central directory: a tool for traceability and adoption
The electronic invoicing directory is the reference infrastructure used to identify and link legal entities to Access Points (AP):
- 572,164 legal entities appropriated by APs since June 2025 (i.e. 5.8% of all French legal entities)
- An average of 17,880 new appropriations per week
- 670,891 addressing records and 365,000 unique users
- 3,900 daily queries
3. Challenges for software vendors and companies
For accounting or invoicing software:
- Mandatory connection to approved platforms and the directory to ensure correct invoice transmission
- End-to-end compliance and traceability, to avoid rejection and non-compliance
Iopole is the Approved Platform (AP) partner for software vendors and provides a full API to:
- Integrate the central directory and standardized flows into their solutions
- Automate invoice transmission and tracking
- Guarantee compliance, traceability, and reliability, including for multi-vendor or international use cases
Key figures to remember:
- 79% of approved platforms are definitively registered
- 5.8% of French legal entities have been appropriated by an AP
- 17,880 additional legal entities are appropriated each week
